Help Design a Book Cover PLUS Prism and Rita Award Winning Books

I need your help designing my next book cover, but first read about the big doin’s in Sorchia’s Universe this past week.

This Week’s Breaking News

  • Zoraida Grey and the Family Stones won a third place Prism Award from Romance Writers of America’s Fantasy, Futuristic, and Paranormal chapter. While I would have loved  1st or 2nd place, Zoraida was in elite company. The 1st place winner in my category took Best of the Best and the 2nd place winner got a RITA .

  • See all the Prism winners and RITA winners  and add them to your reading list.
  • Zoraida Grey and the Voodoo Queen is with an editor right now. Voodoo, pirates, hurricanes, earthquakes, romance, whisky, and at least one vampire.
  • I’m off to a great start on Zoraida Grey and the Pictish Runes which will be the last book in the Zoraida Grey series. What do you think about dragons? Yeah, well, me too.

Upcoming Events

  • Witchling: A Zoraida Grey Anthology— Near Halloween (Subscribers to Sorchia’s Universe get this for free.)
  • Zoraida Grey and the Family Stones is entered in a couple more contests which end in December.
  • Zoraida Grey and the Voodoo Queen—probably released near the end of 2017.
  • Zoraida Grey and the Pictish Runes—Sometime in Spring 2018.
  • After that, I have a nice murder in mind. Probably in book form.

Here’s where I need your help!

Covers are a bit of a sticky wicket with me—I have opinions on what makes a good cover but not everybody sees it my way. For one thing, I like my covers to be different–not the same old stereotypical romance covers. For another, I think they should be fairly clean and minimal. Not a lot of busy-ness. Historically, I have not always gotten what I want which sometimes is a good thing.

Tell me—Am I nuts?

Take a quick survey—Honestly, it won’t take more than 2 minutes–and let me know if I am just too picky. If you don’t want to take the survey, just leave your advice in a comment. What kind of cover makes you drop your latte and fork over your lunch money for a book?

Sorchia’s Book Cover Survey

I’ll post the results later this month. When it comes time for me to tell the artist what I want, I’ll have the weight of your advice to use to make the next Zoraida cover something special.
