Novel Magic: My Bandit Obsession by Sahalie Blue

Novel Magic takes us to work today with a romantic comedy. This book is ON SALE for 99 cents for a limited time.

I’m author Sahalie Blue, here today on Sorchia’s Universe, to talk about my latest book My Bandit Obsession. This is a semi-autobiographical, romantic comedy based on my short-lived retail career at a small ladies boutique. The story idea came to me one night after dinner, as my husband and I watched a segment called “The Kissing Bandit” from the old TV show, The Love Boat. I thought, what if there was such a thing as a spanking bandit? I couldn’t resist writing a story based on this concept.

My book is free with Kindle Unlimited, and is on sale for a limited time at 99 cents.

Who is this masked man, dressed in black, swooping down the mall? Will the application of his special incentive bring customers out to shop? His real identity is a puzzle Suzanna is determined to solve.

Author’s Note: This humorous romance contains spanking and sex. If these scenes offend you, please do not buy this book.

An Excerpt from My Bandit Obsession

In this excerpt, the staff of The Lady Bee, a retail store selling My Bandit Obsession Bookcoverwomen’s clothing, has been assembled for a mandatory meeting. The city has been struggling from an economic downturn, and mall sales have declined.

Like a fly on the wall, let’s listen in as the store’s owner, Mr. Shuster, addresses his employees. Suzanna worries she will be fired.  ~~~

With my wandering thoughts, I had missed some of what Mr. Shuster was saying. “…movie on late night TV, called The Kissing Bandit. Have any of you heard of it?”

Fay piped up, “Sure, I’ve seen that one. It’s with Frank Sinatra and Kathryn Grayson, from the late 1940s, I think.” Fay was the eldest clerk; she fought the post-menopausal hairs growing on her chin.

Mr. Shuster nodded. “That’s correct, Fay. I’ll give you a brief plot summary. Frank Sinatra’s character is a shy, milquetoast kind of guy, and he just wants to lead a quiet life after the death of his father. But, his father’s friends want him to follow in his dad’s footsteps, and become the kissing bandit.” He paused to take another bite of his donut.

I wanted to ask, what the hell does any of this have to do with us, but kept my mouth shut.

Mr. Shuster swallowed, and continued, “Mr. Jorgenson is a fan of Frank Sinatra. Now, I realize some of you younger ladies,” he said, looking directly at Cathie and me, “might not know much about ole blue eyes.” He paused.

I wanted to roll my eyes. I certainly knew who Frank Sinatra was, although I had never heard of the film.

Cathie’s statement mirrored my thoughts. “My mom has lots of his albums, but I’ve never seen that movie. Why was he called a kissing bandit?”

Fay answered, “Oh, it’s because after every robbery, he would kiss the women. That was his trademark.”

Mr. Shuster nodded his agreement. “The movie gave Mr. Jorgenson, the mall manager, an idea. Why don’t we, Southgate Mall that is, have our own bandit?” He grinned. “Mr. Jorgenson thought, instead of a kissing bandit, how about a spanking bandit?”

You could have heard a pin drop.

A bandit who spanks? My kitty twitched at the idea. I glanced at my co-workers, all of whom sat in stunned silence. Fay’s hairy chin had seemingly dropped to her knees.

Good ole reliable Bernice was the first to find her voice. “A spanking bandit? What or who is that?”

“I’m glad you asked, Bernice. Mr. Jorgenson envisions having a masked man—”

Bernice interrupted. “A masked man, you mean he’d look like Zorro?”

Karen tittered.

“He won’t be Zorro, but our guy might look something like Zorro. We want to keep his identity a secret.”

“How is Mr. Jorgenson going to recruit for the position? Is he going to put an ad in the paper?” Karen asked.

Fay said, “I’d love to be a fly on the wall during those interviews.”

Everyone laughed.

Will Bert ask the interviewees to demonstrate their technique?

“Mr. Jorgenson has a man in mind for the role, but he has not told me the guy’s name. Rest assured he won’t be timid, but he won’t spank every woman he sees.” Mr. Shuster chuckled. “This is intended to be a promotional gimmick to get more shoppers into the mall. We would notify the media via press releases and such. Think of the oddity, the rarity, and how much publicity we could get.” Mr. Shuster smiled, rubbing his hands together.

I swore I could see dollar signs reflected in his eyes.

Bernice muttered, “Oh, we’ll get publicity all right.”
